Fire Alarms and Detection

Fire Detection & Alarm System Installation Contractors.

At Matt Browning Electrical Contractors we offer a design, installation, commissioning and maintenance service for fire detection and alarm systems for a range of small to medium commercial and industrial premises – both new build, fit-out & refurbishment, and existing sites.

System Design & Installation

Prior to installing a new fire alarm system, a professional fire risk assessment is usually required. This establishes the type of fire alarm system required, also taking into account any insurance needs. We offer a site survey and full fire alarm design service which ensures that the proposed system meets the requirements of our clients fire risk assessment and insurance.

Our fire alarm installation service includes:

  • Site Survey and Fire Alarm Design – to meet requirements of your fire risk assessment
  • Detailed Quotation including all materials, installation, and out of hours working if required
  • Installation
  • Commissioning & Testing
  • Training & Handover
  • Fire Alarm Zone Plan
  • Comprehensive Certification and User Documentation

Smaller premises will often have a conventional fire alarm panel which divides the premises into separate zones. In the event of a fire, the control panel indicates in which area the fire was detected. For larger premises or more complex installations, an addressable fire alarm system is often recommended – this displays the exact room and device which triggered an alarm condition.

Most fire detection and alarm systems comprise automatic smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual call points, a control panel, and sounders to raise the alarm. Visual Alarm Devices (VADs) are also required in certain areas within most installations to provide a visual warning for people with impaired hearing. For more complex sites, other types of detection methods are available.

Depending on the fire risk assessment and insurance requirements, the fire alarm system can be linked to a remote alarm receiving centre who monitor the alarm and in the event of a fire condition, can call the emergency services or nominated key holders.

Every installation is different, which is why we offer a full site survey and individual fire alarm design service. We can provide a comprehensive specification and full quotation for your fire alarm requirements. For occupied premises, we consider installation logistics as part of our design and quotation package to minimize disruption to your staff or operations.

Our team is trained and qualified in fire alarm design, installation, and maintenance. We also undertake regular CPD training to keep up to date with the latest regulatory and technological changes.
