Upgrade of the electrical supply and distribution system at a factory in Bracknell

Power Supply Upgrade - Bracknell

We recently installed a new electrical distribution system and arranged for the incoming supply to be upgraded at a production facility in Bracknell. Our client needed to install a number of new machines and related plant but did not have sufficient electrical supply capacity at the site.

We carried out a study of the existing electrical load and a detailed assessment of the additional load from the new equipment. This enabled us to provide an accurate design solution and a fixed price quotation to carry out the necessary work.

The project included:

  • Working with SSE Power Distribution to gain costings for a new electrical supply into the site
  • Survey and inspection & testing of the existing electrical distribution system within the factory
  • Design of the new distribution arrangement
  • Installation of a new Hager Panel Board
  • Installation of new distribution circuits to supply high power plant including new cable tray & containment runs
  • Upgrade and replacement of some undersized existing distribution circuits
  • Installation of new local distribution boards to supply new small plant
  • Upgrading main protective bonding to services and steelwork across the site
  • Excavation and ducting for new SSE cable from local substation
  • Complete project management of all contractors
  • Final verification and testing, together with complete electrical certification and documentation

The work was carried out in stages to ensure continuity of electrical supply for the client to avoid loss of production. This required careful planning and out of hours working. The final stage switch over went smoothly and our work was completed on time and on budget.
